2008 Plein Air Workshop

We're having another Plein Air Workshop this summer. August 9 at Round Valley Lake. We'll be creating quick small paintings to serve as memories of landscapes we love, reference material for studio paintings...a way to observe and catch the light.
You can bring your canoe or kayak if you want a lake vantage point. Camping is available at the campground...for a $10 donation to the Greenville Historical Museum.

August Workshops
We're lucky to have a wonderful Santa Barbara pastel artist, Penny Arntz, joining us. She will help any of the plein air artists who would like to work in pastel. Remember to let me know soon, if you want a space in either workshop, as both are filling up. I'll be posting some samples of Penny's pastel work soon!

Open Studio

I will be having an "Open Studio" on July 21 as part of the Art Around the Lake event at Lake Almanor. It will be a chance to see work in progress as well as finished work. There will be four other artists with me...D. Clark with mixed media work, Sally Yost with pastels, Russ Flint with oil paintings, Cheryl Flint with hand-dyed yarns. We'll have free cookies and lemonade and art for sale. It will be fun. All the artists will be demonstrating....I'll be doing quickie portraits, Dottie will be photographing, Cheryl will be spinning, Sally Y. will be pasteling and Russ will be oil painting. Come and see us!

I'll be leading two Plein Air Workshops this August.
August 11 in Humbug Valley
August 18 in Genesee Valley
We'll start (or continue) our watercolor sketch books recording the places we love. Some of us will try a larger piece....keeping up with the light and the challenges of painting on location.
